Nominator's project description

Professor Ferrara is a leading astrophysicist who has impacted multiple active fields of research. He is one of the few key experts in the formation, properties and evolution of cosmic structures during the first billion years after the Big Bang. In Germany, he will work on the modeling of physical processes in the internal structure of high-redshift galaxies to make precise predictions and interpretation of the forthcoming JWST and ALMA data, fostering our understanding of the origin to star formation and the formation of the first galaxies and the ionizing output able to reionize the intergalactic medium. Using innovative tools based on Machine Learning techniques, this research will provide an unprecedented view of the internal structure of these systems.
